Here is my card for this past week's sketch challenge
I did not stamping--all images are from a Simply Scrappin set from Stampin up. I use Choc. Chip ribbon for my hangers and vanilla brads for the centers. The header is a Simply Scrappin piece as well--and isn't that wide striped Choc. Chip ribbon oh so very pretty!!Monday, November 30, 2009
Mini Pizza Box for Number 4......
Number 4 for the Verve challenge was to make a pizza box......these are so much fun and they make great gift packaging for a piece of jewlery or small gift! I made mine with a snowy scene and added some glitter to make it shine--the edges were embossed with my new borders embossing folder.
Number 3........V-E-R-V-E embellishments
What does that mean?? Use an embellishment to fit the letters in VERVE!! I used the letters: R ribbon, E for embossing powder, and V for vintage hardware. When I first read it I thought we had to use each letter--I was thinking that will be one decked out card!!! Then I realized we could use the letters of our choice! Fun challenge.....check it out!!
Number 2......sketch challenge
The second challenge for Verve Release Challenges was to use the given sketch. I love a sketch challenge....one of my favorites!! We were also suppose to make it a thank you card. I chose a metal tag that says Thanks!
Challenge Number 1.....color challenge
The 1st Challenge for the Verve Release Party was a Color Challenge: use Turquoise, Olive, Black and White. I am not a fan or Turquoise and I definately don't like it with Olive but that is what makes it a challenge. Considering the color choices....I think it turned out pretty good!!
Gift Card Challenge.....Number 5
Here is a glimpse at the inside......
Here is my gift card holder. I used this template to make mine. They are so easy to make and they look spectacular!! Just add alittle stamping and some embellishments!!

AIMOOBAROO--be inspired!!
This is the inspiration piece for today's challenge--I love these fabric covered buttons!! You can find them at aimoobaroo!
My card also fits the Limited Supply Challenge from yesterday--make it a tall/long card. I stamped my card with the flowers from Thoughts and Prayer--a current Stampin Up set and the sentiment is also from a current Stampin Up set--Wonderful Words. I layered my my tag on Night of Navy. My base card is Whisper White with a half layer of Bashful Blue. The flowers were stamped in Night of Navy and ultra mini brads were added to the center of each flower. I finished off the tag with a Jumbo Grommet and some ribbon. Thanks for stopping by!!

Project Parade!!
Need some cute Christmas gift ideas.....Hop on over to the Verve blog and be inspired!! Over the last several day they are having a Project Parade and you can see all kinds of neat ideas. Here is a little Christmas project that I am working on.This cute little basket is made with Stampin Up!'s Basket and Blooms die cut. It is really the coolest thing because all the pieces you need are cut all at once--including the flower that I have mounted on the front. Fill it with a candle, candies, gift card, jewelry or whatever that little small something is that you are giving--it will be a gift inside of a gift!! Fantastic--who doesn't love that!!

OCC sketch challenge
Here is the sketch challenge from Our Creative Corner:
I am once again cleaning out my scrap pile--the roof and door are from a retired simply scrappin set. My log cabin was created by embossing my paper with the destressed stripes folder, the door was a tag from the set that I just cut off the top. My Not Quite Navy background was embossed to give it that snowy night feel. I finished it off with snowflake brads and a gold brad for the door knob. Does it remind you of a cabin in the woods?? I think so....kinda like the ones we have here in the Blue Ridge Mountains!!! Check them out--maybe even come an visit us!!
Color Throwdown Challenge #69
This is the color challenge for this weeks Color Throwdown--come on over and play along
It is time to throw down some color........this week the call was for Dark Red, Olive, Vanilla, and Choc. Chip. Super easy colors for me to work with--love them together!! I needed a birthday card for this weekend so I created this one with my good friend in mind.

Right now I am in the mode of using up some of the great DP's that I have laying around--scraps and stuff! I pulled out what was left of my Pina Colada Simply Scrappin set and created this collage of flowers. The background DP is from that set also but it was white and since I needed vanilla I sponged over it with Close to Cocoa and then finished off the edges in Choc. Chip. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment and it is from Verve stamps. The ribbon, corduroy buttons brads, and papers are from Stampin Up!
Thanks for stopping by and having a look--happy stamping!!

Another SCS sketch challenge....
And here is my card......Not Quite Navy, Basic Gray, Whisper White.......those are my colors and the DP is from my stash of scraps. I can't remember the names but I know that it is some of Stampin Up's retired papers. For embellishments, I chose corduroy brads, mini brads and ribbon. The white panel is simply embossed flowers with brads as the center. Well nighty nighty for now--I need to call it a night!!

It is a Mojo / Color combo challenge all rolled into one
This is what you get when you combine a Mojo Monday sketch and a Color challenge from SCS. I love how it turned out!!
The color combo was--Real Red, Choc. Chip, and Always Artichoke. Always Real Chocolate!! Yummy!! I sounds yummy but not the easiest for me!! I had a hard time with the green--seems to dark for the Real Red and the Choc. but I must say I do like how it turned out!! I am thinking that is why they call it a challenge!! It makes you work outside of your comfort zone--thus expanding your creativity!! And that is a good thing--right??Thanks for stopping by--have a great week!! Happy Stamping!!

inspirational challenge
I created this card for the inspiration challenge over at SCS. Here is the piece from which I drew my inspiration:
I love college card especially when I can include a butterfly. I don't care how long this Stipple Butterfly has been retired--it will always have a place on my shelf!! It has got to be one of my all time favorites!!
I love college card especially when I can include a butterfly. I don't care how long this Stipple Butterfly has been retired--it will always have a place on my shelf!! It has got to be one of my all time favorites!!
The inspiration piece was from Lorelie Kay Designs--lot of great things can be found there--you could maybe even get some Chirstmas shopping done!!
Now alittle about my card: the pocket watch looks so real because I used Crystal Effects on the face of the clock--the background paper was printed in the college and I just added the pocket watch, the butterfly (which I colored with water color pencils and then cut out) and the hardware items. Of course I had to make it a circle card in keeping with my inspirational piece. Let me know what you think!!

OCC sketch challenge
It has been raining here for the last 3 days--cold and rainy!! I am just wishing that it was snow!! Boy it would be so beautiful--we would probably have several feet at this rate!! Since I am not actually getting snow I thought I would make a card that displayed my wishful thinking. I used Versa Mark to stamp my snowflakes in the back ground, brayered over them and the trees that I had stamped in Night of Navy, masked the "fallen snow" at the base of the trees, added some Dazzling Diamonds to make it really sparkle and then finished it off with ribbon and snowflake brads. The background was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder. Love my wintery scene--makes me want to grab a book and cuddle up by the fire. Thanks for looking!!Here is the sketch that I followed--come on over to Our Creative Corner and play along.

Color Throwdown Challlenge
Well, when I first saw the colors I wasn't sure I could answer that question with a yes?!?! But I gave it a whirl and I love how it turned out. These colors definitely made me think of fall--my favorite time of the year!! Our leave have almost all fallen of the trees and the pumpkins are starting to look like they need to be removed, so.......this will probably be my last fall card of the year. No stamping today just embossing, die cuts, punches, and alittle linen thread. Let me know what you think!!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #112
What a fun sketch for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I used my new CB embossing borders to emboss the tall image panels--then I embossed it at again on white and punched out just the cabin and layered it. Stamped snowflakes (Serene Snowflakes from Stampin Up) create the wintery background. My sentiment is a retired one from Stampin Up and it is stamped in Night of Navy. The sketch for this week was given in as a horizontal card but I filled it and made it a vertical card.
Here is the sketch.......Let me know what you think.....and if you have time come play along!!

Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge
Here is my card for this week's sketch challenge over at Our Creative Corner:
I used Old Olive, Ruby Red, Choc. Chip and Very Vanilla--all from Stampin Up. My stamp set is also from Stampin Up--even though it has been retired for awhile I just can't quite using it, especially at Christmas time!! My tab was punched out and fastened in place with a brad--I also added the word winter to it as well. The main image panel is attached using 3D glue dots so that the card has some depth. The background was embossed and then just a bit of ribbon was added to finish it off. Here is the sketch--come play along!!

2010 here we come.....
This is what happens when you can't sleep!! I got up out of bed this AM at 3:45--just could not go back to sleep, and the fact that my darling husband was sleeping so peacefully was not helping!! So out to my stamping area to at least be productive!! I used the 3 x 3 calendar squares that are in the Holiday mini catalog from Stampin Up!! It was so much fun creating this cute little wall calendar. I cut them down to 2 inches and added a strip across the bottom after mounting them on a tag that I punched out of Soft Suede cardstock. Each month sports a coordinating stamp set and embellishments. I just think it turned out so very cute!! So if you need a gift idea here you go!! If you don't have a Stampin Up demonstrator and you would like to order these cute little calendar pages just email me at deb@cabincreekwood.com.
