It is time for the Twofer Challenge (#38 cakes/cupcakes). This challenges has us making cards for two card...2 designs for 2 different occasions using the same stamps, stencils, and/or dies. I used Stampin Up's 2015 Sale-A-Bration set Big Day to create a birthday card and a retirement card.
2 challenges inspired this first card. 1.) Freshly Made Sketches // #FMS485 ...A sketch challenge! A simple sketch with endless possibilities. 2.) Retro Rubber // #rrcb158 ...A tic tac toe challenge! My winning three in a row...Cake (Stampin Up's Big Day stamp set from 2015) Heat Embossing (Tangerine Tango embossing powder also a retro item) Flowers (paper flowers that have been sitting on my shelf for over six years)
Card #2
2 challenges inspired this second card. 1.) Global Design Project // #GDP291 ...A theme challenge! The theme for this current challenge is BIRTHDAY! 2.) Try Stampin On Tuesday // #ttot505 ...A sketch challenge! This sketch have several layers and worked great for this fun newsprint designer paper.
Verse of the Day: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3 (NIV)
So fun, DJ - I think I still have this Newsprint pack myself - always good to have on hand, lol. Love the bold pages you used here as your background - brilliant! Thanks so much for playing at TSOT!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on our Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch, Deb! I have several newsprint pattern papers, but never seem to find the right time to use them. Your card shows how effective they can be for a masculine card! Thank you for sharing your card and creativity once again with us at TSOT!!! -Donna
ReplyDeleteThey are both lovely! Thank you very much for joining us at TSOT this time. Groetjes Marjolein, DT-TSOT
ReplyDeleteI love the tangerine embossing on the black background for this stunning retirement card, DJ! The birthday card with it's pink flower and banner is so pretty with the black and white background! Two fantastic and different Twofer cards! Thanks for sharing with us at The Twofer Challenge!
ReplyDeleteSweet card! Great use of sketch 505! Thank you for joining us at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI love how you embraced the vintage and used your products so well on your two cards, Deb! It's always nice when challenges come together like that! I need a retirement card and thank you for the wonderful idea! Thank you, too, for playing in TCC #38! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteHow zesty and fun is the vibrant tangerine against the black, Deb ... so bold and dramatic! Your birthday card is a fabulous blend of cool and graphic (those stripes!) with soft and pretty (single flower and banner!). Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great retro stamp - and a zingy tangerine embossing powder! You've put both to great use. Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber Challenge.
ReplyDeleteCute card, I love the colors and the layout. Thank you for joining Retro Rubber Challenge.
ReplyDeleteLoving both your cards. That tic-tac-toe row was mine too. I love the stamp you used, especially with that bright embossing powder, makes your card have a chalkboard feel. Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber this time. Claire DT
ReplyDeleteLove the use of the stamp in different cards! Nicely done with our challenge at Retro Rubber, the color of the cake pop it right off the background. Thanks for playing along!
