SCS Sketch challenge

This is my creation for the SCS sketch challenge. I just love this Baja Breeze!! I am so hoping that Stampin Up will bring it back!! I used my CB and an embossing plate from Stampin Up to create the background. My main panel is sponged in Choc. Chip and Baja Breeze with a "moon" mask. I added a ribbon and bottom to embellish the card. I am hurrying out the door to a very full day--it is hump day with the weekend just around the corner!! YEAH!!!

Color Challenge: Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, and Basic Black

Here is my card for today's color challenge over at SCS. Today we were to use Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Basic Black. Well, I must say that this was quite the challenge for me because I am just not very fond of the Crushed Curry!! As I sat and thought about what I could make that would include this color I thought about pottery and then I remembered that Wanda (cullenwr) had showed me how to make a vase out of the Ornament stamp from Stampin Up. I thought now it I sponged it up I bet I could get the Crushed Curry to look like a piece of pottery--so that is what I did.
Below you will find some pictures show how to make this vase. Now I must say that Wanda did tell me that this was not original with her but I could not remember where she said she found it and I could not find it so I decided to take some pictures of me demonstrating it so that you could give it a try. If anyone know who the originator of this is let me know and I will link back to them as well. But for now you can take a look at these........
Using the Ornament Punch from Stampin Up punch out leaving a space at the bottom--this will give you a flat bottomed vase--super easy!!
Then all you need to do is sponge around the edges to make it look like a piece of pottery!!

The above card was made with one of these vases as the main focal point. I stamped the "reeds" from Stampin Up's Pocket Silhouette set and then attached my finished pot over them--layered it on some Rich Razzleberry and then attached it to my background which I had made using a embossed piece of Basic Black as well as a piece of Razzleberry Lemonade DP--just a few embellishment to finish it off--Hemp, ribbon, and brads. Thanks for stopping by to take a look!! Let me know what you think.

Black and White.....

Black and White.....what could be more elegant!! Today we were challenged by both the VivaLaVerve challenge and the SCS Limited Supply challenge to use Black and White. Well, the VivaLaVerve challenge was to use the given sketch but to add a twist of Black and White and the SCS Limited Supply Challenge was to use Halloween colors so they went perfectly together.
I used Stampin Up!'s new DP called Night and Day--so very elegant!! The set is all black and white, perfect for both of these challenges. I finished off my card with a trio of white ultra mini brads and a trio of black ultra mini brads and of course a ribbon!! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Enjoy your weekend!!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #104

Here is the Mojo Monday sketch for this week. I needed a birthday card for my nephew and decided that this sketch would be perfect for his card. I used the retired Bronco Buster from Stampin Up along with the Circular Saying from Verve. The ribbon is some that I have been hoarding--when I knew that it was being retired from Stampin Up I bought some extra and now it is almost all but it did fit perfectly with this sketch so I decided it was worth giving up another couple inches!! LOL!! I used Bravo Burgandy and Not Quite Navy cardstock along with some Natural White--the Not Quite Navy background is embossed using the paisley embossing folder. True to the sketch I added a trio of brads in the lower right hand corner of the card. Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Hope this is the beginning of a great week for all of you!!

Smile!! Try really had today to smile....

Smile!! Try really had today to smile, and make someone else smile!! You will be amazed at how good it makes you feel!! I am saying this to myself as well--it is a great reminder on another rainy, dreary day!!

I paper pieced my tree and added 12 brads--yay I know that is alot for such a small card!! It did make it really cute though!! I finished it off with some ribbon and some hardware. I love this type of card--thanks to va.sunshine for the inspiration. I have seen several of these in her SCS gallery and I think they are perfect for gift bags!!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #103

Finally, tonight I got a chance to stamp alittle--actually I did not do any stamping on this card.....so, what exactly did I do, I got a chance to get my mojo creative juices flowing even if I didn't do any stamping. My card for this sketch was all created using the new Christmas Simply Scrappin Set from Stampin Up. I have a club this weekend and I wanted to make something using this set. I think it turned out pretty good......
I used one of the borders and cut it into 3 short sections to make the background--before I attached them I sponged all the edges. The circle and the holly are all die cut stickers from this same set, along with the DP. I wanted to show how fast a card can be made using these Simply Scrappin sets!! I finished it off by added some choc. chip ribbon.
I think it turned out pretty good for a quick and easy card--the only draw back is that once you use the pieces they are gone--with stamps you don't have to worry about that. For those wanting quick and easy this holiday season this is the way to go!!

I told you that I would take some pictures of my birthday gift from my hubby and I have finally done that. Remember a few post ago I mentioned that I would show it off for you. Well, here it is........My light box!! I just love it!! It makes taking pictures easier and they turn out so much better. Thank you, sweetie!!

Well there you have it!! It takes up a little room but the difference that it makes in the pictures make it all worth while!! Until next time........
