Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge--#47

Here is the sketch of this weeks Our Creative Corner Challenge. I also used the Limited Supply Challenge over at SCS--use white and black with a touch of red or pink, make it for someone you love and use polkadots somewhere in some form. I used my Swiss Dots folder to get my polkadots and I think the trim on the ribbon has that polkadot look to it. I also tried out the poofy flower that I found here. I love this!! I am gonna have to make some more and I am thinking about showing it to my stamp club tomorrow--they are so easy to make and look so awesome!!

Scripture Challenge meets Color Throwdown Challenge

I decided that I would play along with the Scripture Challenge over at Triple the Scraps. Patter is giving a Challenge word and then we are to find Scriptures that fit the given word. Last year I started out doing her His Holy Name challenge but fell by the wayside part way through the year. This year I am determined to finish!!! This week was my first week at guest designer for the Color Throwdown Challenge and I have fallen in love with the color combo--due largely to the fact that I fell in love the digi papers that are being given away, compliments of My Time Made Easy to two lucky winners. Actually, I plan to follow the color theme that these papers have through out the year.

The first challenge word was HOPE. The verse I picked: Jer 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plane to give you hope and a future." What a great promise from our Lord!!
The above picture is of the front cover (I bought a Circle Chipboard album from Micaheals for only $1 to use as my project for the year--my Creative Memories circle cutter makes the perfect cut for this little album). I used the verse that Patter has on your blinkie for this challenge. The butterflies are cut out from one of the digi prints and the plaid is from the same set of digi papers. I stamped Stampin Up!'s background lace stamp over my verse and then sponged around the edges. The finish off my cover page I added a ribbon and some Choc. Chip pearls to my butterflies.
The above picture is my first page--the challenge word was HOPE. I used my sticky letters for the H and pink chunky glitter. The OPE are metal charms that were a birthday gift from a friend. I stamped several flourishes from Stampin Up!'s Stitched Exoctics stamp set. I have decided to hand write all my verses this year--not something I really like to do but since this is going to be for my daughter I thought it would be nice for her to have it in my writing.

Just a bit excited!!!

So why am I excited??? I have been asked to be the guest designer for the Color Throwdown Challenge for the Month of January!!! When I found out (and I have had to keep it to myself for a while now) I just about danced a jig!! So here are the colors that were called for:

Along with the color combo that I was also given the option of using some fantastic digi papers from My Time Made Easy. I decided that I just had to use them because they were so fantastic and fun. So here is my card showcasing one of the designs from the Shutterfly pack. The cool thing about this weeks Color Throwdown challenge is that we are giving away 2 prizes--come play along you could be a winner!! This great digi paper could be yours!!

Great digi paper to go along with this weeks color combo of Dusty Durango, Regal Rose, and Choc. Chip. I decided to change things up a bit a go with a shaped card--I used the Nessties Labels. I cut out one in Whisper White and one in Choc. Chip. I scored the top of the white one and then glued them together just above the score line so that the card opens with ease. My stamps are from the New Occasions Mini that just came out from Stampin Up. I actually used two of the new sets: Tiny Tags and Vintage Vogue. The Tiny Tags set fits perfectly in the new Mini tag punch--those the little charm tags hanging off of the "F". I used my new Janome (Christmas present from my DH) to add alittle texture. My "F" was stamped twice--once one background and then once on Regal Rose Cardstock. I cut out the the Regal Rose one and layered it on top using Deminsionals. I stamped, punched out, and sponges my little mini tags and then tied them into place using Linen thread. Here is a close up:
So there you have it, my first card as guest desginer for Color Throwdown Challenge. What an honor it is to be asked to work along side these great group of talented ladies. I am looking forward to what January has to offer!! Thanks to the Color Throwdown team for this opportunity!!

2sketches4you and a new technique

I finally have some time to play today so I am going back and creating some of yesterday's challenges. The sketch is from 2Sketches4You and the New Technique Challenge from SCS.

I just got a Janome for Christmas and so the technique challenge was a perfect chance to play with my new toy--paper quilting. It has taken me alittle bit of practice and patience to learn how to sew on paper but I love the look. My card today used up the last bit of my Razzleberry Lemonade DP--I will miss it!! Before anyone asks about which embossing folder I used--I didn't!! It is another of the pre-embossed square cards from Micheals. I just love these--10 different patterns, 4 of each, and the envelopes for under $10 and if you use a coupon--fantastic deal!! The only stamping that I did on this card was the sentiment "welcome baby" from the Stampin Up! set called Short and Sweet. The ribbon finished off the sketch and the charm was added to finish it off. A card is just not complete without alittle embellishment!!

Mojo Monday Sketch & A Color Challenge

Today is Tuesday and I decided to combine my Mojo Sketch Card with the Color Challenge from SCS. The colors were Bermuda Bay, Handsome Hunter, Certainly Celery, and a splash of pink. I bet you are looking and saying, "Where is the Bermuda Bay?" Look close it is there--Can you find it?? Let me know if you found it or not!! My splash of pink is pretty obvious--know what I used?? Nail art stickers!!! I was doing my daughter's nails and thought these little blooms would be perfect on cards, so I went out an bought some for my stamping stash. She wouldn't let me steal hers!! Anyway I think they are perfect for this tree from Stampin Up!'s Thoughts and Prayers stamp set.

I was so excited to see that my dear friend Teresa Kline got the privilege to create this weeks sketch--I know she is jumping up and down!! She is one talented girl!! Way to go Teresa!! You make me proud!!

inspirational challenge from SCS

Here is my card for today's inspiration challenge over at SCS.
This is the piece of jewelry from Spirit Lala that I chose to use as my inspiration. I needed a sympathy card today for a friend who just lost his father. I thought the colors of this piece worked perfect for a masculine sympathy card, and I thought about this stamp set from VERVE as soon as I saw the bird. My color combo is Really Rust, Basic Black and Very Vanilla. I wanted to add some silver in there too but I just couldn't make it work on this card.

Let's Scrap Challenge

Here is my entry in the Let's Scrap sketch challenge. I have enjoyed the inspiration that I have gotten from these sketches. I didn't have enough pictures to make the sketch exactly as they called for it but I used embellishments and journaling to fill in. By playing along with these challenges I am getting alittle more caught up on my scrapbooking. I am only a year and 4 months behind.....that is really bad for me!! I usually stay pretty current but it seems like once you get behind it is really had to catch up!! So I think this year I will try to stay current with each month and work diligently at getting 2009 done as well. So here is to 2010.....may this year be one of catching up!! Happy New Year!!
