The Wonder of it all....

Mojo Monday offers us a fun sketch for our inspiration.  When I first starting posting my card years ago on Splitcoast Stampers,  Mojo Monday was one of the first weekly challenges that I played along with.  They took a break for a while and recently started back up....I am excited to be playing along with Julee again!!

Materials used:  Stampin Up's Smokey Slate card stock and bakers twine, retired designer paper & dies...silver card stock...Verve sentiment stamp...snowflake brad.

Day 20 of the Kindness Challenge:  Feed animals (birds, deer, etc.).  Another suggestion that comes easy for me...we have a bird feeder right out our living room window.

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek

Today I am giving you a sneak peek at a stamp set that will be available from Stampin Up during their Sale-A-Bration event.  I always look forward to this event each year....who doesn't like getting a free stamp set!!  To show case this stamp set,  I decided to use the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Materials used:  Stampin Up's soon to be available Home To Roost (Sale-A-Bration stamp set)...Soft Suede and Very Vanilla card stock...Basket Weave embossing folder...Watercolor pencils...twine.
Day 19 of the Kindness challenge:  Offer to help someone.  Here in the Florida Panhandle we have been doing that a lot since Hurricane Michael hit on Oct 10.  Helping someone has become a way of life.  Communities have come together, worked together and really supported each other, but here we are over two months out and there is still so much "helping each other" to be done.

Inspirational Holiday Challenge

Paper Craft Crew has given us an inspirational Holiday challenge this week.  The inspirational photo reminded me of a technique I haven't used in a long time....the one where you create a background using metallic ink/glossy paper/alcohol/reinkers.  I can't remember what the technique is called but I had fun giving it a try.

Materials used:  Stampin Up's gold embossing powder, stamps, gold cord, Encore gold ink, Basic Black ink and Real Red ink.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Day 18 of the Kindness challenge:  Pay for a strangers coffee.  This one will be tough for me because the little town that I live in does not have a coffee shop.  Oh well...I will look for other ways to show kindness today.

Season's Greetings

Season's greetings!!  The count down is on!!  We are getting super excited about our kids coming home.  Still have a few more days of stamping and posting before I take a break for the Holidays.  That being said I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge today.  This sketch is great for showing off designer paper.                          Materials used:  Stamping Up's Dashing Along designer paper and matching yardstick...Tim Holtz's reindeer die...bakers twine...retired sentiment from Stampin Up...Memento's Tuxedo ink                                                                                  Day 17 of the Kindness Challenge:  Tell someone that you love them!  This one comes easy for me because in our family we regularly say....I love you!!

Happy Holidays II

Today I am using the Fusion sketch challenge again, along with the inspiration challenge from Inspired By.  The Chocolate Chip rectangles are the cut out from my window card that I made a couple days ago.  I try to use my scraps when I can to create a second card...this cuts down of the amount of waste.  If I do it right away I can usually come up with a plan, but if I just pile it up I often end up throwing it away.  To my fellow stampers...how do you handle your scraps??

Materials used:  Stampin Up's Night Owl thinlits die for the greenery...their Winter Wood stamp set and matching thinlits die for the pinecones...a retired sentiment

Day 16 of the Kindness Challenge:  Smile and thank someone who serves you!!  For me that would be the sushi chef that made my lunch.

Happy Holidays

This is our last sketch challenge for Sketch Saturday before we take a break and begin a new year of challenges.  We hope this sketch inspires you to play along and share your creativity with us.  We always look forward to seeing your interpretation of the sketch.  Our printer died this week and I was not able to use the digital images from this week's sponsor....so I kept my card this week super simple.  Basic stamping of the sentiment and then just some layering of papers and tying of some ribbon.  Sometimes a super simple project is a very good thing...back to basics.
Materials used:  Stampin Up's designer paper and card stock...ribbon...retired Stampin Up sentiment.

Day 15 of the Kindness Challenge:  Write a thank you note to someone.   I love this one...especially since I am a card maker.  With all of today's technology we are loosing the art of written word.  Take the time today to write someone a special thank you note.

Happy Winter

Another card that is showcasing two challenges...a color challenge from Sunday Stamps and a sketch challenge from the Fusion Card blog.  The sketch was perfect for this die and I had to pull it out retirement.  I'm one of those demonstrators that hangs on to favorites even though Stampin Up retires them.  I know I some times make others sad and they are comment...."ohhh I want to order that" and I have to tell them it is no longer available.

Materials used:  Stampin Up's retired stamp set, Happy Scene with matching die...Early Espresso ink, Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Real Red, Blushing Bride card stock...doily...embossing folder.

Day 14 of the Kindness Challenge:  Let a car in front of you in traffic today!!  Road kindness...no road rage today, or any other day!!

Time to Time

I am loving this new (well new to me) challenge that I found that bases their challenges on book covers, title and/or story...The Library Challenge.  Each new challenge gives you the cover and you take it from there.  This week's challenge book is...Jack Finney's From Time To Time.

Materials used:  Tim Holtz stamps...Wild Wasabi, Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight ink from Stampin Up...enamel embellishments

Day 13 of December's Kindness Challenge:  Get in touch with an old friend or relative.  Reach out and reconnect!!

For You Wreath

Two challenges in one post today....sketch challenge from As You See It and a color challenge from the Color Throwdown blog.  The Color Throwdown team asked for Red/Green/Kraft. Typically these are Christmas colors but red flowers and green leaves can be used any time of the year.

Materials used:  Swirly Birds stamp set and matching die from Stampin up...Tranquil Tide and Real Red yardstick...Soft Suede ink and yardstick...ultra mini pearls.

Day 12 of the Kindness Challenge:  Smile at a stranger...or 2 or 15!!  Just smile!!  I know that here in in the Panhandle of Florida we could use some smiles.  60 day out from the devastation of Michael and we are still finding it hard to smile!!

Winter Wonderland

Today I am playing along with the Fab Friday color challenge.  I usually struggle with color challenges that have more that 3 colors...this week's challenge has 5!!  But this color combo came together quickly in my mind...perfect for a winter wonderland.

Materials used:
Stampin Up's  In the Woods framelits die, embossing folder, sentiment from their Still Night stamp set, cardstock in the five colors, and Soft Suede ink.

Day 11 of the Kindness Challenge...Tape some money on a vending machine.  I will have to think about where to find one...we don't have one at work!  Join me in today's kindness challenge and put a smile on someones face!!

Let it Snow....

My friends in VA are getting quiet the snow storm as I create this card.  Last up date I have they were at 12 inches with it still coming down....and the first day of winter has not even gotten here.  Seeing all of their pictures on FaceBook inspired me to make this card.  Thanks to CAS(E) this Sketch for the fun sketch this week.  This card also fit the Library Challenge to be inspired by the Cover, Story, or Title...Raymond Briggs's classic The Snowman.

Materials used:  Stampin Up's Beautiful Blizzard stamp set, alphabet thinlits,  Soft Sky ink and cardstock, Marina Mist Ink,  and Cuttlebug's embossing folder

Day 9 & 10 of the Kindness Challenge:  Day 9 (because I missed posting yesterday) Hide a happy note for some to find.  Day 10...Donate unwanted book to charity.

Beautiful Blizzard

I am loving this Blizzard thinlits die from Stampin Up.  One run through the big shot gives you lots of different size snowflakes.  Today's card was created for the sketch challenge from Freshly Make Sketches.  I am really late posting my card today....more Hurricane Michael clean up at our house today.  Even though there is still so much clean up to be done, we felt good about the progress we made today.

Materials used:  Stampin' Up's Blizzard thinlits die,  Designer paper, Enjoy die (I once again cut off the en so that I would have just the word joy), rhinestones

Day 8 of the Kindness challenge:  Do something kind for yourself.  Go ahead be a little selfish for a moment!!

Friday, December 7, 2018

Hello...

Taking a little break from Christmas themed cards today.  This card was created for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  They always offer such fun elements to their sketch challenges.

Materials used:  Stampin Up's Melon Mambo cardstock, Stitched Circle dies,  retired die, button and sentiment...some washi tape, ric rac, and rhinestones from my stash.

Day 7 of Kindness Challenge:  Tell a joke to make someone smile.  I am not very good at telling jokes...this will take some processing on my part.  I did tell a story about myself as a child to a middle schooler yesterday and really made him smile.  I think youngsters find it amusing for a "old person" to tell them a story about a bit of mischief they were apart of.

Dash of Cheer

Today I am playing along with the inspiration challenge from Paper Players.  Their challenge this week was a night time Christmas scene.

Materials used:  Stampin Up's  thinlits die....In the Woods//Heat and Stick powder// Razzle Berry Glitter// retired sentiment//Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Basic Black cardstocks.

Day 6 of the Kindness Challenge:  Donate a Christmas present to a charity. There are all kind of opportunities to participate in this act of kindness...local schools, Samaritans Purse, Angle Tree, Toys of Tots...just to name a few.  I think this year I will choose Samaritans Purse.  As a child my parents would let us pick out an item from their Christmas catalog to donate.   Now as an adult this memory came back to me and I looked through their Christmas catalog and decided this year I would pick...Chicks!!  As they grow and mature in some village they will provide eggs and meat for a family in need.

Enjoy the Joy

Good morning fellow stampers....Today I am playing along with the sketch challenge from CAS(E) this Sketch.  I am disappointed that my rhinestones look black...they are actually green and match the designer paper in real life.  I guess it is time for me to learn some photo editing skills.

Materials Used:  Stampin Up's designer paper//Dashing Along...one of their dies that said "enjoy" but I cut the  "en" off so that I would have a Christmas die.  Take time today to enjoy the joy!!  I can't believe that after all these Christmases of stamping that I don't have a single Christmas die!?!

Day 5 of the kindness challenge:  Give a friend or loved one your full attention.  For me, I think during lunch today I will just leave my phone in the car.  What will you do today to give someone your full attention??

In The Woods

In the Woods Framelits DiesI am loving all the dimension that you get with this die from Stampin Up...In the Woods.  I actually cut out both trees from the set and layered them.  So COOL!!  Inspiration for this card came from the sketch challenge that Fab Friday posted this week.  Materials used for this card:  Stampin Up's  Linen thread, In the Woods thinlits die, Tranquil Tide cardstock, retired designer paper, Very Vanilla cardstock.                                                                                                                                             I mentioned yesterday that I would share with you the daily kindness challenge that I am paticipating in during the month of December...Day 4//Hold the door open for someone today.  This should be an easy one...might not even be a challenge for some of you.  I usually try to do this throug out the year but to be honest in the busy-ness of this time of year I often over look this simple act of kindness.  Today I will try to do better!!

Today I am playing along with two challenges.  The sketch challenge fromt As You See It  (#AYSI190) and the Holiday theme challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments. (#HSSIC303)

Materials used:  I created the greenery using one of the dies from Stampin Up's Night Owl thinlits die set and my duo of pine cones were stamped using the Winter Woods stamp set and cut out using the matching dies.  I used jumbo baker's twine for my wreath base and then added some Cherry Cobbler "berries" to the wreath to finish it off.  My sentiment is from a retired set...That the Ticket.

I hope you all have a restful Sunday afternoon...my rustful afternoon is gonna be spent creating a couple of cards and then snuggling on the couch with my hubby!!
