Viva La Verve/Mojo Monday

We just got back from Florida--my grandfather passed away about 10 hours after we arrived. We were so thankful that we made it to his house before he died. After being gone a week I am having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I did finally make to cards today.

The above card was for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Click on my Mojo Monday Badge in the side bar to get the Mojo Mondy low down. This card has no stamping on it--I should have at least used a sentiment!! I used Whisper White, Pacific Point, and Basic Black. I used both black and white ribbon, black brads, CB with an embossing folder, and a scallop scissors. I really need to order that scallop punch!!

This card was for the Viva La Verve sketch challenge with a twist. The twist this week was to use a button somewhere on our card. Amber said we could use one or one hundred!! I decided to use one for the center of my flower. I tied it with some white cording and then colored it with my Apricot Appeal marker. The flower and sentiment were created using Apricot Appeal DP. The sentiment was punched out with my oval punches. The flower was created using my daisey die from Stampin' Up! The layout for the sketch was created using Bashful Blue DP. I tied a ribbon to link the sketch pieces together.
I had several of you let me know you missed me--that really meant alot!! Thanks!! Also thanks for all the thoughts of sympathy that were sent me way!! I felt the love of my cyber friends!! Happy Stampin!! It feels good to be back and stampin!!

It is time to say goodbye....

We just got word last night that my grandfather has taken a turn for the worse and they do not expect him to live more than another 24 hours or so. For me that means pulling things together quickly a driving with my parents to FL. We are planning to head out very very early on Friday morning. I will not be here or have access to a computer so bye for now. I will look forward to getting back to stampin and blogging but for now I am needed elsewhere. Keep us in your prayers as we travel most of the day tomorrow. His birthday is this weekend--maybe he will hold on until his birthday and then get the best birthday present ever--HEAVEN!!!

SCS color challenge/ 2sketch4you sketch challenge

Today I combined 2 challenges into one!! (2sketch4you and SCS color challenge)I want to play all the games but don't have enough time......The color challeng for today was to use Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, and More Mustard. I chose to use my Label 1 Nessties--ran 2 sizes of More Mustard, one of Kiwi Kiss, and layered them--the leaves are die from a Stampin Up kit--the flowers are from Exotic Stitch (they are stamped Rose Red on Rose Red cardstock and then cut out) and the sentiment is from Small Script, both sets are from Stampin'Up! I added my new Kiwi Kiss corduroy buttons to the center and finished off my card with a Rose Red ribbon. My card is a 5.25 x 5.25 square. My hubby is whisking me away today for an overnight getaway--got run go pull my things together!!

Inspiration Challenge/OCC Challenge

This is my card for Saturday's Inspiration Challenge on SCS and the Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge given on Saturday as well ( the inspiration piece and the sketch are pictured below). I used Wild Wasabi as my base. The main image panel is WW dp with the grass from Inspired by Nature (Stampin'UP!) stamped over it (this was inspired by the inspiration piece you will see below). The circles were punched out with 2 different sizes. The butterflies are punched out as well using my new MS punch that has a trio of butterflies--love those tiny ones!! I used my 6 x 6 tablet of dp and chose to use the Pixie Pink and So Saffron colors(again inspired by the inspiration piece). The "live with passion" sentiment is also from the Inspired by Nature set. To finish off the sketch part of the challenge I used my CB to create a background on the split piece of white cardstock--added my ribbon and assembled it all together. Last but not least I added ultra mini pearls to the butterflies and two of the corners of the main image panel. I hope you will all chose to "live with passion" this week!!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #73

I just got my Mojo Monday sketch card done--better late than never!! I used Kiwi Kiss and Choc Chip as my main colors because I wanted to use my new cordaroy buttons and new Kiwi Kiss brads (actually they are Leaf brads from American Crafts, but they match perfectly). The collage word panel is also a new wheel from Stampin'Up!--Friendly Words. The paper flowers were pressed onto my pad and then I brushed over them with my aqua painter to blend the color--attached with my new brads. The butterfly is stamped in Kiwi Kiss and sponged with Choc. Chip--actually I sponged everything!! I colored the white stitching on the ribbon with my aqua painter and the Kiwi Kiss reinkers--learned that from Teresa Kline @ enjoy the va sunshine blog. Thanks for looking--let me know what you think.

2 Sketches 4 You

This is my card for Laura's Sketch #19 challenge. I used my embossing folder to created the embossed flowers--added half pearls to the center of each--added a ribbon and hardware to attach my sentiment--layered on some retired DP (that I love--wish it had not been retired)--my next layer (Cameo Coral) is embossed using the new texture plates from Stampin'Up!--added the vertical ribbon and layered on Choc. Chip and then Whisper White. Thanks for looking!! Head on over to 2Sketches 4 You and play along with this fun sketch--there is blog candy available!!

Eye Candy for Blog Candy......

2 Sketches 4 You posted this fun way to win Blog Candy--post a photo of some eye candy of your honey, hubby, boyfriend, etc......

Well here is my eye candy!!! This is my husband, Stan. I so love this picture of him!! He was not to sure about me using it but I said it was my favorite "eye candy" of him and I was going to use it!! He is the love of my life and I feel so blessed to grow old with such a wonderful man!! He is a great father and a fantastic husband!!

Our Creative Corner Challenge/ Please Vote on the Background

The challenge for OCC was to use our favorite embellishment and create a card around it. I so love the silver hodgepodge hardware that I chose that. I love the large brads that come in that set and the sentiment frames--so here you have it!!

I have a debate going with my dear dear friend about whether it is better to use a black background or a white background for pictures. I don't like the way shadows show up when I use white but she thinks the color is better when you use white. I am taking a poll to see what you think. Leave a comment and let me know which you think looks better!! Happy Stampin!!

My card shows off one of my new stamp sets from the new Stampin Up catalog--Thoughts and Prayers. I just love this tree. I stamped the tree in black on glossy paper--masked the moon with a post it not punch out--sponging all around it with Creamy Carmel--then I layerd a cardstock punch out right on top--brayered with Old Olive--this gave the shimmer of carmel rihgt around the moon--added rhinestone in the foliage--layered it up and added a ribbon. My sentimetn is from Kanji--I used the word only.

Thanks to Tenia for giving us another excuse to create!! Happy Stampin!!

Jewelry Color Inspiration #22

Isn't this piece of jewlery beautiful!! Check out Stacey's blog and read about her jewlery challenge. The card below was inspried by this piece of jewlery. The colors that we were to use were Cameo Coral, Choc. Chip, silver, and White. I decided to emboss silver on silver--I layered the silver punched circles with Cameo Coral and added a Choc. Chip brad to the center of each. The ribbon that is running behind them is Choc. Chip as well. This card was very simple to make, but I think it turned out pretty good.

Sale-A-Bration Show Case

Now that Sale-A-Bration has begun I thought I would do alittle more showing off of the new stuff. What great items you can get free with you order!! In this card you will see three of those items: The ribbon, The stamp set, and the DP!! For every $50 that you spend with Stampin'Up! you get to pick one of these items and get it FREE!! If you do not have a Stampin'Up! demonstrator and want to know more about this drop me an email at deb@cabincreekwood.com . These card also shows off the sketch challenge that Roxie gave over at SCS. It was perfect for including these three new items that you can earn. I sponged the edges of the layers with Sahara Sand ink--the Certainly Celery square was run throught the Cuttlebug--the flowers were stamped in So Saffron, punched out, accented with brads and then attached to the main panel--the main panel is attached with 3D glue dots to give the cards some dimension--and the ribbon..............well it is just gorgeous in my opinion. Thanks for stoppping by to have a look.........leave a comment, it will make my day!! Happy Stampin!!!

Blog Candy!!

Here is some great blog candy--stop by Everything Paper Crafts to register to win!!

2 Sketches 4 You

Head on over to 2sketch4you to see Kazan's sketch for this week. I don't have the scallop punch so I used my Top Note to give the scalloped bottom that was called for in this sketch. The stamp set is my new Branched Out set that is new in the Stampin'Up! catalog that just came out. I cut a slit in the fold of my card and ran the ribbon through--tied the knot and then added a build a brad made with Little Pieces. The sentiment was punched out using my window punch.

OCCC--2 or more hearts!!

The Our Creative Corner Challenge this week was to use 2 or more hearts. I used my About You stamp set and the Checkerboard background from Stampin'Up! I think the gingham ribbon goes perfectly with the background stamp!! The "splashes" on the U are from the Stampin'Up! set Itty Bitty Backgrounds. In order to get in my 2 or more hearts, I used 2 white heart brads and also a punch out heart. I think it turned out cute and is ot to girly to give to a guy!!

MTTSC8

I found this Sketch challenge on a blog (A Story about A Girl) that I follow and since it involved blog candy I thought I should play along!! I used my new textured DP again--sorry if you are tired of seeing it, but I just love it!! At this rate I will have to order a new pack with my next order. The sketch called for the sentiment to be around the corner--was not sure how I was going to accomplish that......and then I remembered my rub-ons!! They were perfect!! I added a dew drop to each corner and a ribbon across the center of my main image. The main image is stamped in Choc. Chip and then colored in with colored pencils. I sponged around the edges to finish it off.
We got some snow last night....YEAH!! We are excited because we have had the cold, we have had ice but no snow!! It is so very beautiful and my daughter is excited to go out a play--I would just as soon stay inside with the curtains opened and stamp!! That is my kind of a snow day!!

Mojo Sketch Challenge #72

Today is Monday and that means there is a Mojo sketch challenge!! I decided to use some of my new designer textured paper from Stampin'UP!'s new catalog. It is beautiful and the photo just does not do it justice. My base is Sahara Sand, next is Always Artichoke and finally DP, and then the sketch begins! I used my new canvas cuts for the scallops. The flower from Verve's Beautiful You set is embossed with copper embossing powder and then I added copper brads to the match. The leaves are punched out with the MS punch. The sentiments is also from Verve's Beautiful You set. Why not hop on over to the Mojo Monday blog (see sidebar link) and play along. Have a great week!!

More Goodies..............

Hardly any stamping on this card, but it does show off the new DP, Raspberry Tart and the corduroy buttons. I love all the sides of this paper.

These is one of my favorite new sets in the new Stampin'Up! catalog. It is called Branched Out. I love the fact that you can make the leaves spring, fall, summer or winter, but my favorite part is the tire swing!!
