Mojo Monday Sketch #80

It is Mojo Monday time again! YEAH!! Julee gives such great sketches!! Come on over to the Mojo Monday blog and play along!! For today's card I used my new Basic Gray corduroy buttons, and Walk in the Park DP. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin'Up! sympathy set and the flowers in my main panel is from Pocket Silhouttes by Stampin'Up! as well. I hope everyone is off to a great start of a new week!!

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Wow, it has been a full week!! I am still enjoying my mother-in-law's visit, my mother flew to Florida to visit my sister, my husband flew to Chicago to attend a seminar, my son has had several soccer games (during one of which he got benched because they thought he had a concussion), my dad had surgery........okay think I will just stop at that!! Needless to say I have not got alot of card making done!! I did enjoy making one today!! My daughter made one too, you can see it here. We both used the VivaLaVerve sketch challenge to create our cards. I used Choc. Chip and Pretty in Pink along with some left over DP. I love this polka-dotted ribbon!! You can't see it very well but the ribbon is fed through button holes of a clear square button and then tied in a bow!! I am very pleased with how it turned out, and I am pretty proud of my 12 year old!!

Wax paper resist with alittle twist.....

Wax paper resist with alittle twist....I made a ryhmn!! My daughter is the one who is into poetry not me but I did make alittle ryhmn this morning. So how does it work: take your wax paper and run it through your cuttlebug and then iron it with a hot iron--just layer a piece of typing paper, cardstock, wax paper, and then another sheet of typing paper--slowing iron over the paper--when you pull out your cardstock it will have an awesome pattern. Another technique I used on this card was coloring the stamp with markers--this give the two colors to the stamp image, but what do you do when there is no marker for Riding Hood Red??? Well simply, dip you aqua painter into a pool of ink from a reinker and color on the stamp just like you would with a maker--it works perfect!! So even when you do not have a marker to match you can still do this technique. My color combo today is Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, and Very Vanilla. Have a great day--Happy Stampin!!!

Color Throwdown challeng and SCS sketch challeng

I made this card for today's sketch challeng over at SCS and for this weeks Color Throw Down challenge. I had to really hunt and dig to find any Purely Pomegranate--since this color has been retired I was not sure if I had any!! Alas, I had just enough to create this card!! I used my new leaves die and scribbles die--what fun!! I stamped my Inspired by Nature set in Kiwi Kiss and a second time in Tangerine Tango kissed with Purely Pomegrante. Next I cut out the TT/PP flowers and layered them on the Kiwi Kiss image. I sponged the background with Tangerine Tango and Purely Pomegrante. The sentiment is from the Art of Life stamp set and is stamped in Purely Pomegrante. The square and rectangle images in the background at stamped with the tall grass from Inspired by Nature in Kiwi Kiss and then layered on Kiwi Kiss. Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great week--we are half way through it!

Color Combo from SCS/2sketch4you challenge

Today I combined the SCS color challenge with the 2sketch4you sketch challenge. The colors for today were: Kiwi Kiss, Pretty in Pink, and Baja Breeze. My card today is basic stamping with alittle extras added--the ribbon tab, scalloped edges, sentiment with brads. I have a busy day planned with my mother-in-law who is still visiting us so I am keeping it short--just had to squeeze in my stamping before we headed off for a fun packed day!!

You can find Laura's sketch information on the 2sketch4you blog!

Mojo Monday Sketch #79

Here is the sketch for today's Mojo Monday sketch challenge: Here is my card to today's Mojo Monday sketch: I used Elegant Eggplant paper with match DP--cuttlebugged my background--used a rub-on for my sentiment--layered each panel with Elegant Eggplant and scalloped the bottom edge with my Stampin'Up! scallop punch--watercolored my main image panel using Stampin'Up! markers and my aqua painter--the ribbon and hat pin were added as embellishments to my card. Thanks for stopping by I hope you are having a great start to the week!

Jewelry Color Inspiration Challenge

My card today is made using Bashful Blue, Real Red, and Barely Banana. I stamped my Listen with Heart stamp set in Real Red and layered it on Barely Banana--ticket punched the main image panel--layered it all on a Bashful Blue background that had been embossed with the CB and Swiss Dots folder--tied on my ribbons and finished it off with a punched out flower and brad. i{heart}2stamp

i{heart}2stamp posted this sketch this week--I just had to play along!! The You Are the Best card is made with Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, and Whisper White--the stamped images are from Stampin'Up!'s set All About YOU--the background is Cuttlebugged using Swiss Dots--brads were added as embellishments--the ribbon actually comes up through the star and is knotted on the top--I thought these colors would make a great card for a teen. The 100% Genuine card is made using my Simply Scrappin set--it is made with DP from the set, Pumpkin Pie, and Not Quite Navy--I really wanted to use the star sticker but had used both of them at came with this set, so I cut around the piece that was left after using the star and laid it on the DP, then I cut really close leave just a tiny raised border--the sentiment panel was layered on Pumkin Pie and applied with 3D glue dots so that the card had some demension--the Not Quite Navy panel was cuttlebugged using the Swirls folder--another great card for a teen. One for a boy and one for a girl. I hope you all have had a relaxing weekend!!

Saturday, March 21, 2009

This is the inspriation piece for today's inspiration challenge over at SCS. I thought this dress was so cute--to bad my little girl is almost 13!! I am thinkng that she would not go for this dress!!
My card is done in Bashful Blue, Choc. Chip and Whisper White. I used my stamp-a-ma-gig to line up my squares and place my cupcakes. I also used it for the sentiment. I got some new blue dew drops today and just had to use them. I am thinking they will look better as bubbles with my fish stamps but you know how it is--when you have a new toy, you gotta use it!! I had to make this card in a hurry--not much time to play these days, since my mother-in-law is visiting.

Viva La Verve

Here is my card for the Viva La Verve challenge. I have not gotten to stamp much this week because my mother-in-law is here for a visit. We are having a really good time together--she lives in Florida and we don't get to spend much time together so this is a very nice treat. We are blessed with a great relationship and enjoy it when we can be together. Anyway back to the card...I used Very Vanilla for my base, embossed the Choc. Chip layer with one of Stampin'Up! new textured plates, cut out the next 2 layers with my nesseties, stamped my Botonical Blooms flower and layered it with Pumkin Pie and Choc. Chip.--the sentiement is from Verve and was punched out with my label punch and then layered on a 1 3/8 circle that I punched out as well. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card--have a great weekend!!!

Mojo Monday Sketch #78

I know it is Tuesday but I did not get to make my Mojo Monday card until today. I am making a card every day this week that reflects my prayers for my good friend Beth who is away at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with her 1 year old son--he is a miracle baby for sure!! I am continuing to believe for a miracle on his behave. So Beth, here's to you!! I hope you are feeling our love and support!!

The sketch today was easy until it came to cutting the rounded bottom!! In looking at it you would not think so but in actuality it was hard. I ended up being very pleased with it and hope that you all are inspired by it. I used Parisian Breeze Textured paper from Stampin'Up! to create my background--layered it on Choc. Chip and a base of Baja Breeze--I tied it with a Choc. Chip ribbon--my image is stamped in Choc. Chip and is from VERVE--the image panel was scored across the top 3 times and sponged around the edges--finally I added square rhinestones as embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by to visit today!! If you get a chance say a prayer with me for Beth and baby Noah!!

Ribbon Frame Technique

Here is a card that I made for today's Ribbon Frame Challenge. You can find some great directions here. Claire did a really good job of giving instuctions for this technique. I just found this ribbon on Saturday at Michaels--on clearance for a $1!! I matches perfectly with Tangerine Tando and I just had to use it today!! What a perfect technique challenge to show off my baragin!! Today I used Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, and Choc. Chip for my colors. The stamped image is from Thoughts and Prayers by Stampin'Up! and the sentiment is from VERVE. I love this tree--I hope you do not get tired of seeing it!! I colored each of the leaves with my marker (an idea that I got from my good friend Teresa Kline) after I stamped it in Choc. chip. It is much easier that trying to color the leaves a different color on the stamp. Plus, I really like the two colors coming together. The sentiment on the card is from VERVE stamps and was punched out using a window punch. I had to had cut the layer--there is a punch I wish Stampin'Up! would make--a layer for the windo punch!! Maybe I will suggest it!! I know I would buy it how about you???

Love Bugs!!

I know that Valentines day has past but I could not help myself. When our challenge today over at SCS was to use a bug--I automatically thought of cute little guys!! They have been retired but a keep them hanging around!! We could not use any DP and we had to keep our card at 4 layers (today is the Limited Supply challenge). What challenge--I had some red gingham that would have really made this card!! Oh well--a challenge is a challenge. I used Basic Black, Ridinghood Red, and Whisper White. This card is really very basic--straight forward stamping--added some brads--added some ribbon--made a matching envelope. Thanks for stopping by!!

Color Throwdown Challenge #33

I made this card today for the Color Throwdown Challenge and I used the Sketch Challenge from SCS. I used Elegant Eggplant as my base--my main image panel shows off the tree from Thoughts and Prayers by Stampin'Up! and it is stamped in Always Artichoke--I sponged the background all but the masked moon area in Tempting Turquoise, Elegant Eggplant and Always Artichoke--the Vanilla layer was sponged around the edges with Always Aritchoke--I finished it off with hardware and some ribbon!! Thanks for stopping by and having a look!! Let me know what you thing......

I found another sketch challenge!!!

Yipe!! Here is another sketch challenge! I found it on Cami's, Stamp a Little Love blog. I flipped the sketch because I really wanted to use my new wheel. (I hope that is okay) I used Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa and Choc. Chip. I also used some of my new textured DP from Stampin'Up! The center of my flowers are corduroy buttons and the ribbon is velvet. I also used blue brads to tie in the blue flower petals. I used wax paper to create my background design--I know it is suttle but it real life it really finishes it off. Thanks for look and have a great day!!

Stacey's Jewlery Challenges

Check out Stacey's Jewlery/Color challenge!! It is fun to create a card from her jewlery selections. She posts a item of jewlery and a set of colors to use as your inspiration--come join the fun!!
I used Pink Passion as my main panel--ran it through the CB using the Happy Birthday embossing folder--layered it with black and attached it to a white base--the square panel has a black base and 4 punched out white squares--each square has a punched out flower made with two flowers and held together with a black brad--I finished it off with a white ribbon!!

Black, Rose, Artichoke Color Combination

Today on SCS they are hosting a Color Challenge. The color combination is Basic Black, Always Artichoke, and Rose Red. I think these colors would make a great Christmas card but since it is kinda early for that, I had to really think out side the box. I like the way it turned out--I do wish I had made my Aritchoke layer under the main panel bigger--it kinda gets lost against the black.

Oh by the way VERVE had a release party last night--stop by and check out the great stamps they just revealed. The green scroll is also a die from Stampin'Up! I used Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper white for my colors. The Rose Red panel I embossed using my CB and the Swiss Dots folder. I finished off the card using a ribbon and some bards. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!!

Our Creative Corner Challenge

Yesterday and today I have had lots of computer problems!! I hate when they stop working correctly--I don't know enough about them to be of any good when things are not working right. My husband is great at fixing them and getting things running right but we was not here so I have not been able to post any new card until now.

Anyway here is a card that I made for the Our Creative Corner challenge. This week we were to use doodling of some form. I decided to use the Sizzlits die, Swils Scibbles, found in Stampin' Up! new catalog. I love the doodle look that it has. It seemed to be the perfect finishing touch to this card. I also used the sketch from Stamps and Smiles. Check it out!!
My card has a Baja Breeze base--Ski Slope DP layered with Choc. Chip--main image is stamped in Choc. Chip--I paper toled the umbrella with matching DP--added ribbon and bards as embellishments--my sentiment is hand written (another bit of doodling) and punched with my oval punches.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look see!! Hope your weekend has been a relaxing one!!

Verve Release Sketch Challenge

Here is my card for the Verve Release Sketch challenge. I am pushing it getting it done will comment later on the details, cause I need to get it loaded by 6:00. I have had computer problems since last night and did not get to up load it until now.

Inspiration Challenge

I am not sure what happened to my camera this moring--my photo looks so very blue. I tried taking my picture with a white background, outside in the morning light, but it all looks blue!! I can't take my picture at my usual spot because everyone is still sleeping at my house. Oh well I think you can atleast get an idea about my card.

I used Basic Black as my base--the flowers are cut with my Daisies #2 die from Stampin'Up! I added gingham ribbon to match the inspriation piece that you see below. The sentiment was embossed in white and I added brads to the center of each flower to finish it off. Give the inspriation pieace a try today--it is a fun one--you can find it here.

ATC card made into a standard card.....

This is my ATC card for today's challenge over at SCS.
I am never quite sure what to do with a ATC card so I usually try and make it into a card right away. I find that if I do that I don't have ATC piling up with a big ? about what to do with them.
I used Not Quite Navy, Pumkin Pie, and Whisper White--also threw in some great DP that has been discontinued. I water colored over my stamped image with a Aqua Painter and added a brad to complete the main panel--the background piece was run through my Cuttlebug, and tied with a white ribbon--the sentiment was stamped in Not Quite Navy and punched out with my oval punches. I also decorated my envelope to match the card. Thanks for stopping by!! Leave a comment if you have alittle extra time--they mean so much!! Happy Stampin!!

SCS Color Challenge

Here is my card for today's color challenge over on SCS. The color combo today was: Pink Passion, Choc. Chip, and Kiwi Kiss. Emily has a thing for the Kiwi Kiss right now which is fine by me because I love it!!! I will be sad when it is no longer available.

I used the Branch Out stamp set from Stampin'Up! The based of my card is whisper white--I layered my top not die by cutting around the white piece right along the preforations--layered it on Choc. Chip--stamped the tree in Choc. Chip ink--the leaves in Kiwi Kiss--the blossoms in Pink Passon--punched a slot for my ribbon and used the polka pot Choc. Chip from Stampin'Up!'s valet ribbon set--added a layered button--and there you have it!!

2 tid-bits:

*use a piece of you scrap DP and glue to the front of your card and you automatically have a matching envelope

*in the corduroy buttons that you get from Stampin'Up! you get some brads and some buttons--the brads fit perfectly through the buttons--seperate the prongs slightly and slide them through the button holes--bend the prongs back and there you have it!!

Another Mojo Monday Sketch

I was determined to make this sketch work for me--my first card gave me fits and I kept thinking at it was just not winning work--and this time I want to win!!! With that being said I decided to give the Mojo Monday sketch another try--I am much happier with with card!!

I used To the Nines Specialty (new textured DP from Stampin'Up!), Always Artichoke, and Sahara Sand cardstock. Here are the details: embossed my outlined images, stamped the inner image in Sahara Sand, corner rounded opposing corners, added 2 sets of brad trios, tied on some gold cording and organza ribbon, layered it up as I assembled the card.

2sketch4you

This card was created for this weeks 2sketch4you sketch. I used Brocade Blue, Whisper White and Brocade Blue DP. The stamp is from Verve's Beautiful Set. I chose that stamp in honor of Dr. Seuss Birthday which is this month--"If you never did, you should. These things are fun and Fun is Good!!" I decided to finish it off with a white metal tag, along with a matching Brocade Blue brad.

Mojo Monday Sketch # 76

Today is a perfect day to stamp--we are snowed in with the biggest snowfall this year--at least for here in Virginia. We got 9inches so far and it is still snowing!! So it is time to get the Mojo going!!

Today's Mojo Monday sketch looked so easy but as I started working on it I was kinda stumped!! It took some doing and redoing but I ended up being really pleased. I used my Pocket Silhouettes set and my new Raspberry Tart DP, both from Stampin'Up! All of my stamping was done in Rose Red classic ink. I used Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss Cardstock to layer my DP and main image and I used Rose Red ribbon to complete the sketch. The jewelled charm was my finishing touch!!

Crimped Envelope Card

This is such a fun project!! It makes a great card to include in a gift bag--the envelope is an art project in and of itself--so very cool!! Theresa Momber wrote a great tutorial for this project. It is very easy to follow her instructions and the end product is so cool.

I used the Schooner set and the Old World Background stamp, both retired from Stampin'Up! I stamped them in Night of Navy--sponged the edges--stamped the ship and cut it out--added some color using my colored pencils--attached some ric-rac--and then finished it off with a brad. The card sleeve is also stamped in Night of Navy and sponged around the edges. I also used a decorative corner punch in each of the corners.

I love this project--I think you will too!!
